Barry & Dave · Episode 5

Closing Friday

Barry has found a beautiful stadium catering contract. Forty pages, one of him, and it closes Friday.

Most businesses find a tender the same way Barry does: someone forwards it, or it turns up in a search, and the closing date is already a week away. Forty pages of questions, pricing to pull together, references to chase, and the people who could help are busy on paid work. So you either throw something in that does not do you justice, or you let it go and tell yourself the next one will be different.

The thing is, a contract like that was never a surprise to the buyer. Government buyers publish forward plans and notices well before the formal tender opens, often months ahead. The problem is not that the work is hidden. It is that nobody in a small business has the time to keep checking every portal.

Helm Tender brings Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council and federal tenders into one feed, with a daily digest of the ones that fit your business, so the next good one turns up early instead of the week it closes.

What they say

Barry: G'day, I'm Barry. I love doin' business the way I always have.

Dave: And I'm Dave. I used to. Then I found a better way.

Barry: Stadium catering contract. Beautiful job. Found it this morning. Closes Friday.

Dave: And?

Barry: Forty pages. Seven days. One of me.

Dave: My old way. Found every good one the week it closed.

Dave: Helm Tender had this one in March. Straight from the buyer's own plan.

Barry: Timer doesn't go to March.
